Under 8s meet 'Lympic' star
Ollie Monksfield is one of the star players in
the Great Britain deaf football team - one of the heroes who won
a gold medal in the January 2005 'Deaf Lympics' as they were called!
The gold medallist works as a technician in a deaf school
in north London and also works for Tottenham Hotspur as their representative
for coaching disabled children as part of their club in the community
programme.

Some of the youngsters and coaches who benefited
from Ollie's expert advice.
Ollie was good enough to come to one of our own
training sessions on 24th May to put the youngsters through their paces,
improve their skills and give some excellent advice to the coaches. An
added bonus was he let every lad don his Olympic gold medal and
signed photographs much to the delight of the lads in maroon.
Meanwhile, our talened youngsters continued their double
winning season of success by winning the Pasque Charity Tournament
on 19th June, which was held at Barfield College. Not only did the win
their age group but did so without conceding a goal.
On 25th June we played host to Hitchin Town U8s
at Crawley. The local semi-professional team brought over their
two U8s teams to play two of ours. The Crawley 'B' team lost both games
2-0 whilst the 'A' team romped home by 11-1 and 7-0. A great day was had
by all involved with Hitchin being very impressed by the Club's outstanding
facilities.
