Brill stakes claim for Hatters hot spot
Brill remaining focused
Dean Brill, one of our former stars at Crawley
has started the new season with Luton Town as their first choice keeper
whilst last season's regular, Marlon Beresford recovers from injury.
With Beresford now fit it is down to Luton Town manager Mike
Newell to solve this tricky goalkeeping problem. Dean has done
exceptionally well in his first three games starring in wins against Crystal
Palace and Southampton and and the home draw at Kenilworth Road against
the mighty Leeds United.
Below is an extract from Luton Town's official website:
Dean Brill remains focused and is looking forward to Saturday's trip
to Stoke. Luton's young shot-stopper Dean Brill refuses to concern himself
with the possibility of being replaced for Saturday's trip to Stoke City.
Brill is likely to face an anxious wait to see if he will keep his starting
place for the trip to the Britannia Stadium after the return to fitness
of Luton's number one goalkeeper Marlon Beresford, who has been suffering
with a toe injury.
Beresford completed 90 minutes of a behind-closed-doors reserve team game
against Charlton on Tuesday and is likely to come into the reckoning for
Saturday's trip to Stoke.
However Brill, who kept a clean sheet against Leeds United in Luton's
previous game, is not concerning himself about the possibility of being
replaced and is instead looking forward to the game at the Britannia Stadium,
which he sees no reason as to why the Hatters can't continue
their good form.
"I'm pleased with the way it's gone so far but I haven't achieved
anything yet," admitted Brill. "There is only three games of
the season gone and although I'm very confident in my own ability, I have
to thank the rest of the lads who have helped me settle in very quickly.
"I think I have taken this opportunity well but I have tried to take
each game at a time and prepare as well as I can. I'm just thinking about
each game as it comes so I try not to concern myself with if I will be
involved or not - that decision is down to the manager.
"Everybody at the club is on a high at the moment and we will go
to Stoke on Saturday confident we can get a result. We know that every
game is a hard match but if we can prepare as normal then hopefully we
can carry on the way we have been going.
"Last year we had that amazing start to the season and if we can
get anywhere near that run of results then it would certainly cement our
confidence in this division.
"It's been a big start to the season for everyone involved at the
club, including myself. Our start to the season hasn't surprised any of
us really but we now have to hope we can carry on as we are."

Jim still coaches the nursery section and is hoping to unearth
a nother find like Dean.
