Thanks for the memories

The Committee would like to thank all members who supported the Club throughout the tournament.
Four terrific evenings were held at the Club with the atmosphere electric on every occasion.

This was down to you, the members, and despite vast quantities of refreshment being taken on board, the conduct of all the members was exemplary. A credit to everyone at CGSSC.

Thanks must go to all the staff for their efforts on four extremely busy evenings, to Paul Smith for fundraising on these nights (despite falling over and injurying himself on the way into the Club!), to Sharon Hughes for her face painting (which helped ensure the youngsters -and some parents who haven't grown up) felt part of the events, to the team in Cockle's Corner for their cheerleading capabilities, to the Committee members who once again gave freely of their time to ensure everything ran smoothly and to everyone who threw themselves wholeheartedly into supprorting the boys in red and white.

Local DJ and column writer for the Luton News, Dan Neufville, was a guest at the England v Portugal game and he wrote in this week's paper:

"What a massive, massive disappointment the football was last Thursday.

I know by now everyone will have heard, read and watched so many inquests about England going out on penalties yet again.

But I have got to mention the amazing atmosphere at Crawley Green Sports & Social Club - it was almost like being at the game itself.

It is a real football venue there, with memorabilia everywhere and real deal football fans, not just the ones who come out very couple of years.

The venue puts many a sports bar in the shade - so a special mention to all at CGSSC."

One spin-off is that the Club now has a large England flag with CGSSC on it. If anyone going abroad etc, would like to borrow the flag and have pictures taken of it outside major sporting arenas, impossible places, landmarks etc, please contact the Secretary and we will start a "Flagfest" with pics on this website.
