Blackett signs for Posh
14 January, 2007
Football League club, Peterborough United have won the race to sign
talented centre-back Shane Blackett, during the January transfer
window.
Former Crawley youth star, Shane has cost the Posh £150,000
for his services and will complete his transfer on 29 January. Originally
pack of a double deal with another Dagenham player, Shane ended
up as the sole transfer after the other Daggers player opted to stay put.

Shane Blackett - in his Sunday football days at Crawley
A speedy, lively and talented striker with Crawley, Shane has
come on leaps and bounds after being converted to a centre-back at Dagenham,
picking up many man-of-the-match awards during the process and alerting
many league clubs to his skills.
When Shane makes his Posh debut, he will become the third player
to come through the ranks at Crawley to play league football - and all
at the same time - and is a tribute to all the hard work put in by our
youth coaches and the support given by the main Club to our youth section.
Currently our other two former stars are goalkeeper Dean Brill
(Luton Town FC, currently on loan to Gillingham) and striker
David Galbraith (Boston United). Shane has promised Crawley a signed
Posh shirt on making his debut which will be framed and proudly displayed
in the Clubhouse alongside Dean and David's shirts.
Probably Shane's top memory at Crawley was when he was a pivotal member
of the successful Roger Smith/Jon Freeman team which reached the
final of the East Anglia cup, losing to a fine Ispwich team at the Ipswich
Town FC ground.
Blackett earns pro chance
26 June, 2006
The Club has recieved news that Shane Blackett has now signed
full-time professional forms for Dagenham & Redbridge.
We congratulate Shane on his achievement - and he has promised us a
signed shirt if and when he reaches league status!
27 May, 2004
It has been confirmed today that former Sunday player Shane Blackett
has signed for top conference team Dagenham & Redbridge.
A tall, pacy forward Shane put in some tremendous performances
for us in the 2002-03 season when we nearly clinched our first Sunday
premiership title.
Shane, whose father Dean also played for Crawley,
had an outstanding season for us last year on Sundays whilst enjoying
an even better season with Dunstable Town on Saturdays, who eventually
were promoted to the Ryman league.
As a youngster, Shane played for what has been arguably our best
youth team under the guidance of Roger Smith, twice reaching the
East Anglia Cup Final and winning a host of cups throughout his junior
career with us.
Now that Shane has signed for Dagenham, we at Crawley are pleased
that we may have helped in some small way to further the career of another
talented local player.
