Development Policy Overview
Crawley Green Youth Football Section
is committed to the development of youth football for all in the community.
Key initiatives that will ensure our continued progress and expansion
are outlined below and a detailed Development Policy breakdown is attached.
We will actively encourage our young players to take referee qualifications,
this strengthens their understanding of the game and allows them to make
a positive contribution during and beyond their playing career.
The club will provide financial assistance to Managers, Coaches and Officials
wishing to undertake development courses e.g. Junior Team Manager Award,
UEFA B Certificate etc.
The Crawley Green Youth football nursery
aimed at children aged between four and eight will become an integral
part of our development programme. We aim to create one new team each
season through this route.
Our partnership with Charlton Athletic FC will create a natural
development path, via their Development Programme and Academy, for those
youngsters with exceptional talent.
We will engage a Press Officer to promote the club to the local and wider
community.
Our School Liaison Officer will continue to work with local schools to
promote the club, particularly focussing on providing disadvantaged and
challenged children access to the game. We also aim to increase the number
of girls participating in football.
As an FA Charter Mark Development Club we will actively pursue
any new initiatives from the FA that will allow us to further develop
the club eg FA Community Club status.
We will encourage parents and other volunteers (through our close association
with the Social Club) to assist with the running of teams and other tasks
necessary to ensure the stability and safe environment provided by the
Youth section.
We will encourage and support our older players, reaching adulthood, to
progress from youth football into our adult teams and we will create an
infrastructure within the club that facilitates this.
The development policy has been divided into the following sections:
-
Involvement of the Local Community and Schools
-
Infrastructure and Club Development
-
Player Retention and Development
-
Manager and Coach Development
-
Facilities Development
Current Initiatives - Summary
To reinforce our commitment to achieving the goals outlined in our development
policy a number of current initiatives are highlighted below.
Six players have attained referee qualifications within the last two seasons.
These players have now started to referee on a regular basis and two are
attending the FA Referees School of Excellence.
A number of current Managers will participate in the next available Junior
Team Managers course (the baseline qualification outlined in our objectives).
We have one Manager in the process of taking the Certificate Licence with
two other coaches stating an intent to gain this. Two of our coaches are
in the process of taking the UEFA B course.
Several under 16 players now assist our qualified coaches with soccer
schools, gaining experience with a view to taking coaching qualifications
in the future.
We have two UEFA B coaches and three Certificate coaches in the club who
run Coaches Days; these are coaching sessions provided for
all managers and coaches in the club, giving practical advice and ideas
for use in the development of their own team.
