Bruce Grobbelaar at CGSSC
Friday, 20th April 2007
Another famous international paid a visit to Crawley
Green when Zimbabwe and Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar was
the guest speaker at the latest sportsman's dinner - this time opened
to both lady and gentleman members.
Bruce gave a superb speech, recalling his days
as an amateur in Zimbabwe to how he overcame his residential difficulties
to gain a work permit in this country and his European Cup final"wobbly
knees' routine during the penalty shoot-out.
Another excellent dinner provided by our usual caterers
and an hilarious hour of comedy from Ian "Sludge' Lees ensured
that members and guests once again had an outstanding evening.
Below are some pictures of the evening:

The committee, most of whom helped with the usual preparations
on the day pose with the European cup winner, Bruce Grobbelaar.

Organiser, Maureen Bowler poses with the Zimbabwean
international whilst Vice-Chairman pays Bruce for his evening's work round
the back of the Club.

The usual football groupies (retired section) pose for
their pics.

Whilst the younger ones (Eddie excepted) make the most
of their meeting with Bruce.
