Ron tees up singles championship
Sunday, 30th February 2007
The annual CGSSC Golf Society Dday was held on Friday,
28th September.
The setting was Mentmore Golf Club - a course not to
be missed for any avid golfer.
With a 1.00pm start all were gathered at the first tee.
The weather was abysmal with the first members to start going out in light
showers. Four hours later the four balls were arriving back in the clubhouse,
everyone was soaked to the skin. The competition was played in the worst
weather possible and no high scores were expected.
Roger Smith's team won the team competition with
97 points, second place went to Ron Freeman's team with 96 points.
The singles was a much closer affair with Ron Freeman
and nephew Craig Freeman tying for first place. The winner was
decided on countback and this went to Ron Freeman.

Section's Singles Champion cup.
A big thank you to Mick Murphy for again organising
the event and for the fantastic prizes. Mick could not play this year
as a back problem (could be worse - Fulham have got two back problems)
prevented his participation. But I am sure he will be fit for next year's
competition.
Thanks to all members for playing in what can only be
described as horrendous conditions.
