Ronnie Bates' super U16s side secured a league
and cup double on Tuesday, 15 May when they beat Leighton Town 1-0 in
the league cup to follow up on their outstanding league championship in
the top division at this age level.
Scorer of the Crawley goal was Warren Plowright
who scored with a header from a corner in the 55th minute. Crawley then
had three shots cleared off the line which could have made the result
more comfortable than it was.
The cup win completed the double after having secured
the Division 1 title with 3 games left to play having gone unbeaten up
to the title win.
This was the second consecutive season that the team had won the Division
1 title, having won it at under 15s. The team has had a core of loyal
Crawley players who have played for the club since U9s namely Scott Bates,
Glen Freeman, Ryan Valentine and they were then joined at U11s by Shaun
McGovern, Tom Peverall, Matty Coffey - all of whom played in the final.
The team, pictured top celebrate after their superb
win at Ampthill Town FCs ground - a ground where Crawley have won three
cup finals in as many weeks.
