Hat-trick of cups for U10s

Under 10 League Cup Final, 10th March 2007
Crawley Green 3 St Joesph's 0
The boys gather for a pre-match huddle with coaches, Alan McCabe, John Dudmish and Mark Read.
A big crowd turned out to watch league leaders Crawley take on second placed St Joe’s in the U10 League Cup final.
The first half was a cagey affair with both teams displaying cup final nerves. St Joe’s edged the first half ensuring the Crawley keeper was kept the busier of the shot stoppers. However, despite their edge St Joe's failed to score and the first half finished deadlocked at 0-0.
The Crawley players must have been given a firm talking to from coaches Alan McCabe, John Dudmish and Mark Read as they came out a different team and soon took the lead through a Sam Hazel effort that looked like it wouldn’t squeeze inside the post but it did, to the joy of the proud Crawley following.
A good move which started at the back ended up with Sam Hazel once again who cut in on his weaker left foot and shot hard and low to the keeper's left, leaving him no chance of stopping it! 2-0 to Crawley!.
The players could sense that the cup was coming back to the club for the third year running. St Joe’s had nothing to lose and pushed more players forward in a desperate bid to get back in to the game - but Crawley broke loose with big boy Ollie rounding the keeper to slot home to an empty net for the final score of the da0.
Sam Hazel, who was captain for the day, lifted the cup to the cheers of all.
Well done boys. Now for the double and hopefully the third consecutive double - an achievement not yet managed by any team at Crawley.
The lads enjoy the moment of winning the cup for three consecutive season - the first team to manage this superb accomplishment. Congratulations to everyone involved with the team.
