Youth season ends on a high note
Tuesday, 23 May 2006
Crawley Youth FC ended the season on a high note
when Ronnie Bates' (pictured below) U15 secured the Chiltern
Youth U15 Division 1 in an exciting play-off match against Dunstable.

With both teams finishing the season level on points
the championship would be decided on a one-off head-to-head match and
the Crawley lads gave their hopes a terrific lift as they roared
into a three-goal lead after only 10 minutes.
In an exciting game both teams created further chances
and the maroons were up against it for the last quarter of the match but
held on to clinch their first top-division title.
This brings the curtain down on Crawley's best-ever
youth season with the lads clinching no less than 10 titles in
all divisions - beating the 1992 season by one title.
This reflects great credit on the effort put in by the
coaches, the lads and lasses as well as the parents, supporters and sponsors.
Further good news was that Crawley Green girls
had further success at the Chiltern junior 7s end-of -season tournament
last Sunday.
The U10s won their age group, beating Brook End 1-0 in the final
with Donna Penman scoring the only goal.

Nora Moran - keeping up the excellent work put
in during the football season.
The U12s also won their age group, again beating Brook End in the
final this time with Amber Eden scoring in the second period of
extra time
The U13s were unlucky to lose in the semi-finals to Potton on penalties.
All in all it proves that what we are doing at Crawley
Green is at long last having an impact.
