Thanks from the veterans!
Sunday, 18th June 2006
The Club this morning received this letter of thanks
from
Danny Austin, manager of the Veterans side.

Danny Austin, above, former star on Saturdays
and Sundays.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people behind the
scenes who have made the veterans' season so enjoyable The veterans have
had one game per month for the whole season and some cracking displays
against Dunstable Town, AFC Dunstable, and Flamstead, to mention just
a few, have made it really good. This along with some memorable moments
like Dean Hobson getting shot by a sniper, Steve Hunt going
on one of those mazey runs and Mark Williams re-living those early
years with some outstanding saves, plus Colesy going off after 11 minutes
to throw up, have made it real fun
All the players (nearly all ex-Crawley senior side players from the early
90s) are aware of how much time and effort are put in by the people at
the Club, so a very big thank you to Maureen Bowler, Tony Talbot, Ian
Freeman and the committee for their help and for giving the Vets a
chance to make fools of themselves, runaround and work up a thirst, and
in a lot of cases regret it for the next three days.
When the new season comes around Tony Slade will be the joint manager,
as myself and Alison are expecting the baby in September and I
might have my hands full!
Thanks once again
Danny Austin
