Geoff Winter - whistle stop tour

Friday, 24th November 2006
Former premiership referee, Jeff Winter was the guest speaker at this year's Annual Sportsman's Dinner.
Yet again another complete sell-out ensured a terrific atmosphere at Crawley Green and the ref did not disappoint as he gave an alternative view on soccer in the hotbed of the Premiership.
A superb three-course meal started the evening off in fine style as members and guests waited for the star turns to take the stage.
Comedian, Gary Marshall, returned to the Club and once again this talented comedian had everyone in stitches.
Paul Stump once again did a superb job compering the evening and our thanks go to Maureen Bowler for another superb event and the committee for preparing the room for the day.
Below are some pictures of this main fundraising event of the year.
The Committee pose with guest speaker Jeff Winter.
Event organiser, Maureen Bowler with the former top referee.
Whilst Crawley Green's own 'Stato' Ken Bunker gets the red card from the man in black before the evening even begins.
An expectant crowd wait for their meals . . .
. . . then the fat lads table gets stuck in!
The fundraising 'heads and tails' gets down to the last two!
Jeff Winter regales the crowd whilst comedian Gary Marshall psyches himself up for a terrific performance.

Our next events are a fundraising afternoon dinner on Friday, 16th March at 2.00pm. Proceeds to the Saturday side. For further information contact Eddie Downey. Three-course meal, guest speaker Ronnie Whelan plus a comedian.
In April, the Club hosts another evening, this time initially for members only on a first-come, first-served basis with guest speaker former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobelaar. Again a three-course meal and comedian. See Maureen Bowler for furtjer details.
