Senior football awards
Saturday, 20 May 2006
With so many of the youngsters playing for the U18s,
Saturday and or Sunday sides, this year's presentation was a combined
effort.
An encouraging season was had by all the teams, especially
the Saturday side, which, two weeks before the start of the season were
managerless and with no players. Neil Tattersall and Bobby Males
took over and a terrific season saw them finish fifth - coupled with three
terrific cup games against teams from higher divisions, the best being
the 1-0 away win at premier side Haringey.
The reserves had a tough start and rooky manager Craig
Freeman battled through until November when seasoned campaigner and
former Crawley boss Alan Clark took over the reins. Although the
team finished third bottom, the end of the campaign saw a marked improvement
in playing performance and gives optimism for next season.

Vicky Meyrick receives a gift from
U18s manager Jim Betts for her outstanding help throughout the
season.
The U18s finished a creditable mid-table position, an
excellent result considering most of the team were a year younger than
the age group they were competing in. Jim Betts and Andy Meyrick
not only got the best from the youngsters midweek, but encouraged them
to play Sundays where they finished third and possibly gaining promotion.
Thanks went to Vicky Meyrick for her assistance
with the midweek youngsters.

Maureen Bowler receives a bouquet of
flowers from managers
Neil Tattersall and Alan Clark for serving up superb after-match
dinners week in, week out voluntarily, and to Reg Freeman for outstanding
help both before and after matches.
