Crawley U8s do the double
Crawley Green U8s 2 Bushmead 1
A terrific crowd gathered at Crawley as the Club hosted
three cup finals on a fine Saturday morning. The first game saw our own
U8s team managed by Rob Burton and Alan McCabe looking for
their lads to do the double - having won the league two weeks ago.

The team pose for their photograph prior to kick
off.
The maroons dominated the opening period with some fine
passing, terrific tackling and a good awareness of the game, particularly
young Justin who stole the show and earned the official man-of-the match
performance.
After hitting the crossbar and going close on several
occasions they eventually took a deserved first half lead after quarter
of an hour.

Crawley score their first goal to the delight of
their supporters.
After the break Crawley continued the good work but
Bushmead gradually played their back into the game hitting the crossbar
before Crawley broke away to score a second.

The boys go close . . .

. . . before Crawley's goalscorer hits the ground
- but happy to see the ball hit the back of the net.
Bushmead dominated the final quarter and pulled a goal
back when a defensive error let them in with a rather sloppy goal. The
vbisitors then went all out for an equaliser, but the maroons held on
to win the double in their first season.

The team proudly receive their cup winners' medals
. . .

. . . before lifting the cup to a thunderous round
of applause!
