Bedfordshire Senior Cup Final

Potton United v Crawley Green
Crawley Green triumphed against Potton United in the Bedfordshire Cup Final with a dramatic 5-4 penalty shoot out win after the scores finished 1-1 after extra time.
Potton United completely dominated the opening half hour.  They took the lead after just 2 minutes through a fine strike from Dean Hamilton and could easily have been 3 up in the first 10 minutes.  Crawley cleared 3 goal bound efforts off the line and managed to weather the storm to gradually fight their way back into the game.
Crawley equalized 5 minutes into the second half when James Potter was fouled in the box and Ryan Smith calmly stroked home the penalty.  Crawley had the better of the second half and Jermaine Hall almost secured a win in the last minute but he missed from close range.
After an extra time stalemate Rian MacNabola, John Cooper, Jermaine Hall and Ryan Smith gave Crawley a 4-3 advantage in the shoot but Rian MacDonald missed and Potton drew level to make it 4-4.  Phil Cusack put Crawley ahead 5-4 and Matt Dear then missed for Potton United and Crawley claimed the trophy.
History was probably made during the shoot when Adam Furness of Potton had his spot kick save by Ross Tompkins.  In his frustration he almost kicked the ball out of the ground, was duly booked by the referee and dismissed from the field of play as it was his second caution of the game.
An eventful evening and congratulations to manager Neil Tattersall, his assistant Bobby Males and coaches Jonathan Cook and Steve Burgess.
