On Sunday 23rd August
Bedfordshire Fa County U16s Played their first competative game of
the season against Middlesex in the Rodney Redmond Memorial
Trophey and Crawley Green had 4 players in the sqaud with 3
of these in the starting 11. Jordan Bates, Sam Peverall
and Shay McGreevy all played the full 90 mins of a highly
entertaining and competative 2-2 draw which saw the Trophy shared between
the two Counties. Robbie MaClachlan was also on
the bench as substitute goalkeeper and was unlucky to get on having played
a part in the 2 previous friendly games, a 4-2 loss to Hitchin Towns U18s
and a 2-0 win against Brashe Sparta U18s. In what was a classic "game of
two halves" Bedfordshire went in at half time 2-0 up with all 3 Crawley
players having solid games but Middlesex came out fired up and scored 2
quick replies to level, the second a penalty conceded unfortunatly by
Jordan Bates. Bedfordshire then rallied and some stout
defending kept the away side at bay even though they pushed hard.
Allround a good performance by
the Crawley players that should see all 4 included in the squad for
the next game in September.
