Crawley Green 3
Cranfield 1

Crawley Green progressed into the next round of the FA Cup with an impressive 3-1 victory over Cranfield United.

Rian MacDonald opened the scoring after 16 minutes when he calmly side footed the ball past the keeper from 12 yards.  James Potter doubled Crawley’s lead with a well struck penalty just before the break.  Crawley completely dominated the second half.  Potter failed to convert a second penalty which the keeper saved but he could do nothing to stop Jason Young netting Crawley’s 3rd from close range after 65 minutes.

Cranfield scored a fortunate consolation goal after 84 minutes when keeper Scott Bates clearance cannoned off the advancing Michael Owens and flew into the top corner.  In the next round Crawley have been drawn away to Enfield 1893 on 29 Aug 09.

In mid week Crawley Green ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against newly promoted AFC Dunstable.

James Potter put Crawley in front from a free kick after only 6 minutes.  Goals either side of the break put Crawley firmly in control.

Robbie O’Dell finished a flowing move on 40 minutes and Lee Hayward then netted his debut goal with a fine solo effort 12 minutes later.

Robbie O’Dell completed the scoring with a fiercely struck penalty after Luke Singleton was tripped in the box.

Next Tuesday Crawley travel to local rivals Brache Sparta Community and on Saturday entertain Harpenden Town.
