Crawley Green 1
Colney Heath 3

Crawley Pay The penalty 3 Times

In mid week Crawley bowed out of their 3rd Cup competition in 2 weeks.

After defeats in the FA Cup and FA Vase, Crawley lost 3-1 after extra time to Premier Division opposition Colney Heath in the League Challenge Trophy.

Colney started brightly and took the lead from a 4th minute penalty converted by Ian Cooper.  Crawley weathered the early onslaught and gradually got a foot hold in the game.  In the 66th minute Mark Smith put Crawley on level terms when he headed in a cross from Liam Dooley.

Both sides missed chances and the game looked to be heading for a penalty shoot out when in the 115th minute Colney were awarded a hotly disputed penalty which Ian Cooper duly dispatched.  In the last minute Crawley were themselves denied a penalty and in the ensuing break away Colney were awarded a 3rd penalty.

Ian Cooper stepped up again to complete a hat trick of penalties to put Colney into the next round.

Next Saturday Crawley travel to Cranfield United.
