Bedfordshire Senior Trophy Quarter Final
Crawley Green v The 61 FC Luton

Crawley Green progressed into the semi final of the Bedfordshire Senior Trophy with a hard fought 3-1 victory over local rivals The 61 FC (Luton).

The visitors opened brightly but Crawley took the lead after 35 minutes when John Cooper shot home from the edge of the box.  Cooper doubled the lead 4 minutes later with another pile driver to give Crawley a 2 goal interval lead.

Robbie O'Dell headed home on 62 minutes and it looked like Crawley would run out comfortable winners.  However Crawley's Eamon Cusack managed to reduce the arrears with amazing own goal after 70 minutes.  In an attempt to lash the ball out of play Cusack ended up planting the ball over keeper Scott Bate's from fully 25 yards.  Cusack's eventful second half was completed when he received his marching orders for a second yellow card 5 minutes later.   The 61 FC (Luton) rallied and hit the woodwork twice in the closing stages but Crawley managed to see the game out and progress into the semi finals.

Crawley's Reserves lost 1-0 to table topping London Colney.  This rounded off a difficult week for the Reserves who travelled to Aylesbury in mid week where they lost 6-1 to an Aylesbury first team whose Manager had commandeered the fixture.  Although this is not against the rules it is hardly the right spirit when the team we should have been playing were spectators on the side lines.

In mid week Crawley moved to the top of the table for a short time with a 5-0 victory over a hard working Cranfield United.
John Cooper opened the scoring on 32 minutes after being set up by Tom Freeman and six minutes later Lee Loasby rounded off some excellent play from Ricky Clark.

Crawley killed the game off early in the second half when Jermaine Hall scored his debut goal after 49 minutes.  Robbie O'Dell made it 4 just before the hour with his first goal since November and Hall completed the scoring 4 minutes from time.

Next week Crawley Green entertain Hadley and the Reserves travel in the other direction for the reverse fixture.
