Crawley Green 2 HarpendenTown 5

Molten Spartan South Midlands League
Crawley Green v Harpenden Town
Crawley Green's unbeaten start came to an abrupt end when they were given a lesson in finishing by Harpenden Town who ran out 5-2 winners.
Crawley dominated from the start and took the lead after 6 minutes with a goal from Lee Hayward.  Crawley paid the penalty for missed chances and Harpenden equalised after 16 minutes through Tim O'Donovan.  James Warner finished well to put Harpenden 2 up after 36 minutes and Chris Gregory smashed home a penalty conceded on the stroke of half time.
In the second half Harpenden made the game safe with goals from Richard Taaffe and a second from Gregory before the hour.  James Dickson converted a 62 minute penalty to reduce the arrears but despite creating many more chances Crawley slumped to their first defeat of the season.
In mid week Crawley had a convincing 6-2 win against Brache Sparta.  Crawley started brightly and were 3 up in 20 minutes with goals from Luke Singleton and 2 from James Potter.  Scott Bates pulled off an outstanding save to deny Brache in the 26th minute but he could do nothing to prevent James Awindokosa reducing the arrears on 44 minutes following a mistake by Potter.
Lee Hayward restored Crawley's 3 goal advantage after 57 minutes and Luke Singleton sealed the game with Crawley's 5th on the hour.
To their credit Brache kept battling and Adrian Fontenelle made it 5-2 after 64 minutes.  Mark Smith completed the scoring with his debut goal for the 1st Team after 89 minutes. In added time James Potter's eventful night was completed when he was denied a hat trick when he missed his second penalty in successive games.
Next Wednesday Crawley entertain table topping Buckingham Athletic and on Saturday travel to Enfield 1893 in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup
